Is this the dawn of a new era of sailing? The ambitious MODX 70 project from France wants to position itself as a game changer with a revolutionary rig system - an ambitious goal.

This new 100% renewable-energy cruising catamaran has already proven its technological prowess by completing a circumnavigation of Spain without using any fossil fuels.

Its technology is cutting-edge. The ModX is a 100% electric cruising catamaran equipped with retractable masts and automatically adjustable inflatable wings.

Océan Développement, owned by Olympic champion Franck David, has just developed a catamaran powered by inflatable wings and electric motors fuelled by hydrogen generation.

A revolution. The MODX70, a futuristic 70-foot sailing boat equipped with two fully automated inflatable wings and powered by a mix of renewable energies, caused a sensation at the Multihull Show in La Grande Motte.

The shipyard based in Lorient Océan Développement is exhibiting the only example of this vessel at the Cannes Yachting Festival. It is powered without the use of fossil fuels, made partly from recycled and bio-based materials, and equipped with two inflatable and retractable wings.
